Who are we?

We are a group of volunteers dedicated to bringing the innovative, energetic enthusiasm of TED and TEDx that is spreading around the world to the Santa Cruz area. Here is a listing of the volunteer team members who are making TEDxSantaCruz possible in 2012.

Kirsti ScottKirsti Scott, Organizer, Marketing
Kirsti is the Creative Director and founder of web design firm Scott Design, serves as VP of Marketing at the Santa Cruz Chamber of Commerce, is a co-founder of 100 Women Who Care Santa Cruz, and is a Girl Scout leader for a group of energetic high school seniors. She loves design, marketing, art, travel, technology, TED talks, and things that make her laugh, especially her husband and three kids. kirsti@tedxsantacruz.org
Jon LuiniJon Luini, Co-Organizer, Media Production
Jon has been integrating music, technology & community with the Internet in Santa Cruz for the past 25 years. He is the President and owner of Chime Interactive, a leading full-service digital agency providing digital strategy consulting, web design, and video & multimedia production. Sandy is a senior international public relations/marketing strategist, providing counsel and program development for communications that affect people, planet and profits through stakeholder relationship management. She is passionate about the change underway in the world and committed to helping create a new language of goodness for business.
Misa Leonessa Garavaglia, Speaker Coaching
Misa Leonessa Garavaglia is a life transformation specialist. As a speech coach, life coach, spiritual director and public speaker, Misa is passionate about partnering with individuals highly committed to personal, relational, and spiritual growth. Her communication coaching sets inner voices free enabling them to become more authentic, making a strong public impact by creating enduring emotional connections with their audiences.
Gary Maricich Jr., Stage Design, Creative Direction
Co-Founder/Principal of JAM design group, a multidisciplinary design company focused on design thinking and its application to everyday interactions, processes, products and environments. Words to describe Gary: artist, musician, chef, cyclist, global citizen, loving and smiling husband and father.
Sheila Schat, Community Outreach
Sheila Schat is a partner of Chime Interactive managing Chime Nonprofit Communications. She spent the last ten years in community development finance creating effective asset building programs and increasing access to financial products for the unbanked. Her ability to shape sustainable programs and write successful grants recently resulted in over $6 million in financial awards. She is also a professional musician and has toured worldwide.
Nada Miljkovic, Radio Interviews, Community Outreach
Nada is a local activist artist and educator researching and exploring new media forms that inspire understanding and tolerance across diverse cultures. She develops new forms of cinematic and performative experiences in the virtual and physical realms using radio, digital video, net-art, and performance. In 2011, she co-founded Muse Cinemedia, a local company devoted to moving stories to the web and producing rich media content..
Maia Zohara, Community Outreach, Speaker Liaison
Maia Zohara is Founder and Principal of Prosperity Point, an international firm that creates transformational relationships among people who are leading and causing global change. Prosperity Point values the impact that diverse perspectives, unusual combinations of culture, and deep curiosity can create. Maia adores her three children, delicious food “tapas-style,” ideas worth spreading, and the Aha! moments of life.
